Tuas, Singapore
Strategic Marine’s 11,068sqm yard at Tuas in Singapore was leased in 2005 following orders for the company’s first two 40m crewboats.
In the following year, Malaysian company Syarikat Borcos Shipping confirmed its order for the two vessels, later ordering a further seven boats of the same design.
The yard, which has a full-time management and shipbuilding staff of over 120, has also had orders from Dutch shipping company SMIT International for three 22.1m crew/pilot vessels, as well as orders for four 31m crew boats from Indonesia’s Baruna Raya Logistics.
The Singapore yard recently embarked on the construction of six 40m crewboats on spec, two of which have already been sold to Pilbara-based marine services company Samson Maritime.
Samson’s aluminium utility vessels, which have seating for 50 rig crew and ten crew members, are scheduled for delivery in May and July next year. |
