SHIPBUILDING - "THE STRATEGIC EVOLUTION"

Strategic Marine’s Directors developed their boat building skills in the Western Australian port of Geraldton, constructing high performance offshore fishing boats capable of handling the challenges thrown up by the unforgiving local weather conditions and coastline.

When Strategic Marine was established in 2001, the company already had a well established international reputation as a leader in the high-speed aluminium vessel industry.

That reputation was based on the company’s success in delivering a total of over 65 vessels to the Singapore Police Coast Guard and the Malaysian Police. Since then offshore orders for patrol vessels have continued to flood in.

Coupled with this success was the landing of Strategic Marine’s first crew boat contracts to build six vessels for Danish and Singaporean companies. This was followed by 20 crew boat contracts from reputable Malaysian, Indonesian, Singaporean, Dutch and Mexican companies.

Now with the facilities and technology to build larger steel vessels at its Vietnam yard, Strategic Marine has recently diversified into steel shipbuilding, winning numerous orders from South East Asia, Europe and New Zealand.

In recent years, Strategic Marine has designed its construction and project management techniques to improve the quality of its vessels while reducing production costs, thereby ensuring clients receive excellent value for money.

The company’s highly trained designers and production staff work continually to improve plate development and manufacturing techniques to maximise structural strength and reduce construction time without compromising the vessel’s integrity.

Strategic Marine’s history shows that it is able to work effectively and efficiently with clients all over the world – no matter where they are, and no matter whether they are government agencies or commercial operators.

The company’s record of offshore maritime design and construction excellence, its wide range of pre- and post-delivery services and its ability to compete on cost is underscored by a history of repeat business from respected international clients.

With a client base ranging from private customers to worldwide fleet operators, Strategic Marine works closely with clients to ensure it complies fully with specifications, Classification Society Rules and Regulations, as well as contract requirements.

Strategic Marine’s long-established Quality Management Systems guarantee that production meets specifications and that company operations are managed professionally every step of the way.

These systems underpin Strategic Marine’s continued success in bringing local workforces up to international standards, enabling the company to turn overseas shipyards into premier shipbuilding facilities while maintaining the values of the local community.

Not content with its current shipbuilding capacity, Strategic Marine is actively seeking out opportunities to continue the expansion of its global shipbuilding capacity.

The company has recently announced it is embarking on the construction of four 40m crewboats and two 52m offshore utility vessels on a speculative basis to meet growing demand from the global offshore market. These vessels will be ready for sale in by the end of 2009.
