Mark Newbold – Chairman Mark Newbold’s vision, his financial acumen and legal expertise have been the main drivers behind Strategic Marine’s success in transforming itself from an Australian-focussed boat builder into an international shipbuilder. After gaining his marine qualifications, Mr Newbold worked as Managing Director for a tug and towage operation for ten years before consulting to the Western Australian-based Geraldton Boat Builders Pty Ltd on financial and legal matters - ultimately becoming Chairman. Mr Newbold was the driving force behind the establishment of Strategic Marine in 2001, taking on responsibility for corporate development and direction, as well as financial and legal operations. His core strategy in building a global company has been to minimise its risk by having manufacturing operations located in a number of countries with different economies and currencies. |

Ron F. Anderson – Singapore Managing Director Ron Anderson has been involved in the maritime industry for more than 40 years, starting as a seaman on freighters in the early 1960s. After rising to the position of Ship’s Master, Mr Anderson moved into ship management roles representing international shipowners and working for more than 30 years in South East Asia. After returning to Australia, Mr Anderson continued to work in Ship Management and incorporated his own company to carry out this activity, representing several international shipping companies. He later became National Marine Manager with Austrade, the Australian Government’s international trade promotion agency to promote the fledgling Australian aluminium high speed ferry industry to the international market. In the late 1990s he joined the shipbuilding industry, holding senior sales and marketing positions, before being invited to become a shareholder and Director on the Board of the newly founded Strategic Marine in 2001. |

Mark Schiller – Vietnam Managing Director Mark Schiller started his working career as an apprentice boiler maker/welder, joining Geraldton Boat Builders on its inception in 1984. Mr Schiller’s extensive construction knowledge saw him hold a number of management roles over the years, including production and sales and administration, along with management of the company’s contract for the construction of almost 60 patrol boats for the Singapore Police Coast Guard. Mr Schiller was invited to become a founding shareholder and Director of Strategic Marine in 2001. He was appointed as Strategic Marine’s Vietnam Managing Director in 2007 and was able to orchestrate the construction of the company’s new world-class shipyard in only one year. |
