Strategic Marine has won the Large Advanced Manufacturer Export Award in the 2008 WA Industry and Export Awards program – giving us a hatrick of gongs so far this year, with the prospect of two national awards still to come.
The Award was presented at a glittering black tie dinner attended by Premier Colin Barnett and around 400 of WA’s leading businessmen and women at the Hyatt Regency in Perth on October 31.
The win means Chairman Mark Newbold will go to the national finals, to be held in Melbourne at the beginning of December.
Mr Newbold will also travel interstate to Sydney at the end of November to attend the national finals of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award after winning the WA final a couple of months ago.
The company was also awarded the WA Business News” “Rising Star” Award earlier this year, and walked off with the Australian Chamber of Commerce Vietnam 2007 Business Excellence Award late last year.
Accepting the Award, Mr Newbold responded to suggestions from Mr Barnett that WA should forge closer business links with Singapore by inviting the Premier to visit our shipyard at Tuas.
“We would be very pleased if the Premier could spare the time to visit our yard. We have already forged strong links with Singapore,” he said.
