Strategic Marine is a dynamic Western Australian-based shipbuilding company with an international outlook and a rapidly growing reputation for producing quality, high performance commercial vessels for markets across the globe.

From 2006-08, the company has consolidated its position as a global shipbuilder by winning 130 new orders worth over US$250 million from Asian, European, Middle Eastern and American shipping companies.

Since 2001, Strategic Marine has exported its shipbuilding experience and expertise by establishing four shipyards in Western Australia, Singapore, Vietnam and Mexico which currently employ some 1,500 staff.

Strategic Marine had its origins in Geraldton Boat Builders, one of Australia’s leading aluminium shipbuilders. Between them, the two companies have designed, built and delivered more than 320 commercial vessels.

Since its incorporation in 2001, Strategic Marine has focussed on offshore crew boats and support vessels, as well as high-speed patrol boats.

The company prides itself on its 10m-65m aluminium crew boats, having won some 30 orders from European, Asian and Mexican clients.

It has also completed 186 patrol and defence vessels for Australian, Nigerian, Singaporean and Malaysian government agencies. 

Since increasing its shipbuilding capacity and achieving a global reach with its new shipyards, the company is now in a position to diversify its portfolio, particularly into the construction of steel vessels.

After less than two years of operation, its massive new Vietnamese yard, which is fully equipped with the facilities and technology to build large, purpose-designed steel vessels, has already won US$100 million worth of orders.

The company is in the process of ramping up its production facilities at all of its yards to give it the capacity to meet escalating demand from the global shipping industry.
