Mark Newbold – Chairman
Mark Newbold’s vision, financial acumen and legal understanding have been the main drivers behind Strategic Marine Australia Pty Ltd (Now known as Henderson Marine Base Pty Ltd) successful transformation from an Australian-focussed local boat builder, into an international shipbuilding company.
From the deck to Master of Vessels, Mr Newbold culminated his experiences by operating a tug and towage operation as Managing Director. He then focused his expertise to consulting for Western Australian-based Geraldton Boat Builders Pty Ltd – ultimately becoming Chairman. Mr Newbold was the driving force behind the establishment of Strategic Marine Australia Pty Ltd (Now known as Henderson Marine Base Pty Ltd) in 2001.
His fundamental strategy in building Henderson Marine Base Pty Ltd into a global company has been to minimise its risk by having manufacturing operations located in a number of countries with different economies & currencies.
Following the sale of Strategic Marine (Singapore) Pte Ltd to Triyards Holdings Group, Mark Newbold has continued his strategy and vision as the Chairman of Strategic Marine (Singapore) Pte Ltd.
Mark Schiller – Chief Executive Officer & Executive Director
Mark Schiller started his career as an apprentice boat builder/welder with Geraldton Boat Builders on its inception in 1984. Mr Schiller’s attention to detail and practical knowledge, saw him grow into a number of management roles over the years, including production, sales and administration. Mr Schiller become a Director of Strategic Marine Australia Pty Ltd (Now known as Henderson Marine Base) in 2001, and was appointed as it’s Vietnam Managing Director in 2007, enabling him to orchestrate the construction of Strategic Marine Australia Pty Ltd’s (Now known as Henderson Marine Base)new world class shipyard.
Following the sale of Strategic Marine (S) Pte Ltd and Strategic Marine (V) Ltd to Triyards Holdings Group, Mark Schiller took on the position of Chief Executive Officer of both these companies.
Ron Anderson – Executive Director
Ron Anderson has been involved in the maritime industry for more than 40 years, starting as a seaman on freighters in the early 1960s.
After rising to the position of Ship’s Master, Mr Anderson moved into ship management roles, representing ship owners and working for over 30 years in South East Asia. After returning to Australia, Mr Anderson continued to work with international shipping companies.
He later became National Marine Manager with Austrade, the Australian Government’s international trade promotion agency. In the late 1990s he joined the shipbuilding industry, holding senior sales & marketing positions, before being invited to become a Director on the Board of the newly founded Strategic Marine Australia Pty Ltd (Now known as Henderson Marine Base) in 2001.
Following the sale of Strategic Marine (S) Pte Ltd to Triyards Holdings Group, Ron Anderson remained as the Executive Director of the company.
Scott Nicholls – Chief Operating Officer
Mr Nicholls has been involved in the shipbuilding and complex manufacturing sectors for over 15 years and has worked for some of the most recognised complex shipbuilders globally.
Mr Nicholls has bachelor and masters qualifications in economics, business and project management all of which have been combined with an intimate knowledge of the shipbuilding and complex manufacturing industries.
Mr Nicholls commenced his career in design management and quickly progressed to project and operational management roles culminating in occupation of various executive level positions. Mr Nicholls’ expertise lies in all areas of the shipbuilding and manufacturing process inclusive of design, project management, operations, finance and sales & marketing.
Mr Nicholls joined Strategic Marine Australia Pty Ltd (Now known as Henderson Marine Base) in 2009 as Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for the day to day running of Strategic Marine global operations.
Following the sale of Strategic Marine (S) Pte Ltd to Triyards Holdings Group, Scott Nicholls remained as the Chief Operating Officer of the company.
Wong Chai Vei – Chief Financial Officer
Mr Wong, CFO, is responsible for all accounting, financial and taxation matters for the of Strategic Marine Group.
He was formerly the Group Financial Controller for Ezra Holdings Limited, a company listed in Official List of the SGX-ST and Emas Offshore Limited, a company dual-listed in Norwegian Oslo Bors and Official List of the SGX-ST. He was intimately involved in the preparation of its Initial Public Offering of Ezra Holdings Limited and Dual Listing of Emas Offshore Limited in the Official List of the SGX-ST.
He has more than 19 years of experience in the accountancy profession, having served as Senior Auditor and Audit Manager with Arthur Andersen in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore respectively. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy from University of Malaya. Mr Wong is also a member of The Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Malaysian Institute of Accountants.
